Born on 23 March 1676 at Castle Green, Southampton to Gyles Say (1632–1692), nonconformist minister. Studied at Thomas Rowe's Dissenting Academy at Newington Green, London, after which he became chaplain for Thomas Scott for three years in Lyminge, Kent. Ministered briefly at Andover, then at Great Yarmouth in 1704; finally at Lowestoft, Suffolk in 1707-1725. Was not formally ordained in any congregation there. Married Sarah Hamby in February 1718; had one daughter, also named Sarah. In 1734, he succeeded Edmund Calamy at the congregation of Long Ditch, Westminster. Died on 12 April 1743.
