Born in Alençon, France on 22 August 1679 to Marquerite Roger and Pierre Allix, minister there.The family took refuge in England after the Revocation of the Edict of Nantes in October 1685. John Peter was admitted to Queens' College in 1699. BA in 1702/3; MA from Jesus College in 1706; DD in 1714. Fellow at Jesus 1705-1714. Ordained deacon in 1705; priest in 1706. Vicar of Swaffhm St Cyriac and St Mary, Cambridgeshire, 1712-1753. Vicar of Fordham, 1713. Rector of Dry Drayton, 1724-1725. Rector of Castle Camps, 1725. Chaplain to King George I in 1721. Dean of Gloucester in 1729, before becoming Dean of Ely between 1730 and his death in on 11 January 1758. Married Elizabeth, daughter of Alexander Parker in 1713.
