Born at Darcy Lever, Lancashire, ca. 1630. Son of Robert Fogg (d. 1676), rector of Bangor Is-coed, Flintshire. Began his education at Bolton grammar school. Admitted to Emmanuel College, Cambridge, in 1644; transferred to St. John's College in 1645. Received his BA in 1649, and his MA in 1652. Became a fellow at St. John's in 1650. Created BD in 1658 and DD in 1679. Rector of Hawarden, Flintshire, 1657-1662. Ordained by the Cambridgeshire Association in 1658. Ordained as an Anglican priest in February 1661, but resigned his post in 1662 (because he refused to take the oath against resistance to the government) and did not conform until 1665. Married Mary Harrison (1630/1-1718). Curate at Prestwich, Lancashire, 1666-. Curate at Plemonstall, Cheshire, ca. 1668-1718. Vicar of St. Oswald, Chester, 1672-1699. Canon of Chester, 1673-1691. Dean of Chester, 1692-1718. His preaching found favour both with the conformists and nonconformists. Died in Chester in February 1718.
