Vicar of St Nicholas, King's Lynn, Norfolk beginning in 1631. Master of St John's College, Cambridge, 1644-1653. Vice-Chancellor of Cambridge in 1647/8. Regius Professor of Divinity at Cambridge, 1651-1656. Master of Trinity College, Cambridge, 1653-1659. Rector of St Martin Pomeroy, London, beginning in 1645. Active member of the Westminster Assembly. Died 15 February 1659.
