Most likely Richard Clayton, who was at University College, Oxford at the time of the associated sermon. Matriculated from University College in 1618; BA from Broadgates Hall, 1622; MA and fellow of University College in 1624; BD and licenced to preach in 1639; DD in 1666. Master of the college, 1665-1676. Rector of Shellingford, 1639-1676. Prebend of Salisbury Cathedral, 1661-1676. Will proved at Oxford 6 July 1676. CCEd notes that AO conflated his career with two other clergymen.
