Born in Hereford to unknown parents ca. 1590. Matriculated as poor scholar from Christ Church College, Oxford in 1607; BA, 1611; MA, 1614; incorporated at Cambridge, 1620; BD, DD, 1630. Licensed to preach in June 1627. Made deputy orator at Oxford and installed as canon of Christ Church in 1629-1648. Chaplain to Charles I in 1630. Vicar of Flore, Northamptonshire and Westwell, Oxfordshire, in 1632. His sermons defending religious festivals and Charles I, led to his sequestration in 1646. Continued his defence of the Stuart ecclesiastical establishment in print during the 1650s. Restored to his livings in 1660. Died 20 December 1670.
