Annesley earned a B.A. (1639) from Queen's College, Oxford and was created D.C.L. in 1648. He was incumbent at Cliffe, Kent c. 1644-1652. He seems to have had a living at St John the Evangelist, Friday Street, London during the Interregnum. Annesley was lecturer at St Paul's, 1657-1659. He was also pastor of St Giles Cripplegate, London, beginning in 1658, until he was ejected after the Restoration. Annesley died on 13 December 1696 at age 77.
