CCEd lists a Samuel Edwards as the schoolmaster at Whitchurch Free Grammar School around the time of the associated sermon. Another possibility is the Samuel Edwardes listed in AO, who graduated M.A. from Trinity College, Cambridge in 1665, and later became rector of Weston-under-Lizard, Staffordshire in 1687.
