John Robinson was the son of William Robinson, clerk in Long Whatton. He matriculated from New Inn Hall, Oxford in 1694 and graduated B.A. in 1698; he proceeded M.A. at Trinity College, Cambridge in 1714. He was vicar of Send, Surrey from 1701, rector of Wisley from 1703, and rector of Ashbury from 1709-22. He held a prebend of Wells Cathedral from 1705-09. He was buried at Send in February 1735/6.
