Jacob was vicar of Ugborough from 1652 until ejected in 1662. He preached to Thomas Martin's congregation at Treville Street during the 1660s and took on the congregation after Martin's death. His daughter married Martin's son Samuel. He was licensed as a Presbyterian at Plymouth in 1672.
