Born in Pentridge, Dorsetshire, ca 1652. Son of Gabriel Saywell (d. 1658), rector of Pentridge. Educated at Cranborne School, Dorset. Admitted sizar at St John’s College, Cambridge, 5 April 1666, at age 14. B.A. 1669-70; M.A. 1673 (incorporated 10 July 1677); B.D. 1680. Fellow of St John’s, 1671-85. Ordained priest at Ely on 18 September 1675. Preacher of the diocese of Ely, 1676. Vicar of Hauxton and Newton, Cambridgeshire, 1676-82. Curate of Willingham, Cambridgeshire, 1682-92. Rector of Bluntisham, Huntingdonshire, 1684-1709. Died 30 March 1709.
