Meadows graduated from Emmanuel College, Cambridge in 1644 with a B.A. and from Christ's College in 1647, where he held a fellowship until 1651. He was ordained in 1657 at Ousden, where he had lived for several years with his patron, Humphrey Mosely, where he remained after his ejection, and Mosely's death, until 1670. In 1672 he was licensed to teach as a presbyterian at his home and Elizabeth Nelson's. He lived the later part of his life at Bury St Edmunds, where, thanks to inherited property, he was able to assist various nonconformist ministers.
