Born sometime in 1681 to Dean Monteage, accountant-general to the commissioners of the excise. As an adult, he served as the first accountant of the Bank of England, and later accountant to the York Buildings Company, the South Sea Company, and the customs. Died 1754. Grandson of the accounting writer, Stephen Monteage (GEMMS Person 2251).
