Robert Bridge (b. 1637) was the son of Thomas Bridge, vicar of St. John's, Chester. He matriculated at St John's College, Cambridge in 1656 at the age of 19. He was ordained deacon and priest in 1661 and became curate of upper mediety of Malpas, Cheshire the following year. He succeeded his father as vicar of St. John's, serving from 1674-89.
