Other note
Born the son of Cadwallader Owen, an Oxford scholar and clergyman in 1606. He followed in his father's footsteps, and proceeded MA at Oriel College, Oxford in 1630. He resigned shortly thereafter, married, and became rector in his hometown of Llanfechain before moving south to take up posts in Kent and London. A staunch royalist, he was deprived of his post at St Swithin, London in 1643, but continued his living in Eltham where he was a friend to John Evelyn. In 1658, he successfully petitioned the council of state for a license to preach and was appointed minister of North Cray, Kent which he maintained after the Restoration. He proceeded DD in August 1660 and died in January 1683.
