No Mather based in Dorchester, Dorset in ODNB, AO (Foster), ACAD (Venn), CCEd, or SI.
fl. 1645. Preached sermons in Dorchester, notes for which are recorded in MS. Rawl. D. 1350 (ff. 219r-v, 222r-v). Although no Mather based in Dorchester, Dorset is noted in the usual biographical sources, one possibility is Richard Mather (1596-1669; ODNB Article: 18324), minister of Dorchester, Massachusetts. This is unlikely since these sermon notes are preceded by others that (according to the cataloguer) were preached by John White of Dorchester, Dorset. But Richard Mather's sons, Samuel and Nathaniel, both left Massachusetts for England around 1650, Samuel becoming a chaplain at Magdalen College, Oxford, and they could have brought manuscripts with them (ODNB Articles: 18323, 18326).
