Other note

Rutherford graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 1621 and was made a regent of the university. In 1627 he became minister at Anworth, Kirkcudbrightshire, from which post he was removed in 1636, and restored in 1638. He was in England at the Westminster Assembly from 1643 to 1647. After returning to Scotland, he worked with the covenanters and resided at Aberdeen.
