B.A. (1691) and M.A. (1694) from Magdalen College, Oxford. Fellow at Magdalen, 1698-1713. He became lecturer of moral philosophy in 1705, bursar in 1707, and dean of divinity in 1709, giving up his posts at Magdalen when he left the college in 1713. Became chaplain to the Duke of Beaufort in 1706. Rector of Sopworth, Wiltshire, 1710-1711. Rector of Chalton with Clanfield, Hampshire from 1711 until his death in 1736. Preacher at Bridewell Hospital beginning in 1698 and chaplain there beginning in 1713, until his death.
