Precise date of birth unknown, but Hoyle was baptized on 15 December 1588. Studied at Magdalen College, Oxford and later Trinity College, Dublin. B.A. (1610) and M.A. (1618) from Trinity, and fellow there. Professor of divinity at Trinity beginning in 1623. B.D. (1625). Made D.D. at an unknown time. Vicar of Stepney, Middlesex. Master of University College and regius professor of divinity, beginning in 1648, until his death in 1654.
