Clergyman and poet. Date of birth unknown, but Holyday was admitted to Christ Church College, Oxford in 1605 at age 12. B.A. (1612), M.A. (1615) from Christ Church. Vicar of Ashleworth, Gloucestershire and of Brize Norton, Oxfordshire, both beginning in 1623. Made archdeacon of Oxford in 1625. Created D.D. in 1642. Chaplain to King Charles I beginning around 1642. Curate of Iffley, Oxfordshire beginning around 1652. Rector of Chilton, Berkshire beginning around 1655. Rector of Crowell, Oxfordshire at some point.
