Date of birth unknown, but ACAD (Venn) estimates 1604. Matriculated from Emmanuel College, Cambridge in 1622. He apparently earned his B.A. and M.A. but the details are unknown. Schoolmaster at Rivington Free Grammar School in 1626. Ordained in 1627. Probably curate of Ripponden, Yorkshire in 1630. Vicar / rector of South Kirkby, Yorkshire, ca. 1648-1662. Vicar of Bolton-le-Sands, Lancashire, ca. 1660-1664. Assistant minister at Kingston upon Hull, Holy Trinity, 1662 and lecturer there, 1665-1671. Vicar of Hooton Pagnell, Yorkshire, 1661-1662. At some point he was vicar of Sculcoates, Yorkshire. Prebendary at York Minster, 1671.
