Graduated from Corpus Christi College, Cambridge BA in 1621/2. Ordained as deacon in York in 1625, and ordained as a priest in 1629. Curate at Illingworth, Yorkshire in 1633 and vicar there from 1650 to 1652. Later a curate in Durham according to Gurney who also quotes Heywood describing him as "a good substantial preacher".
