The exact birth date of William Loe is unknown. He graduated B.A. from St Alban Hall, Oxford on 5 November 1597, proceeding M.A. on 14 June 1600. In 1598, he was presented to the vicarage of Churcham, Gloucestershire. He became rector of Severn Stoke, Worcestershire on 26 November 1611. In 1618, Loe was awarded the degrees of B.D. and D.D. from Merton College, Oxford. Finally, in 1631, he became vicar of Wandsworth, Surrey; he had also been instituted to the vicarage of Putney. Publications by Loe include Come and See (London, 1614), a collection of four sermons originally delivered at Gloucester Cathedral; The Merchant Reall (Hamburg, 1620), originating from his appointment as pastor of the English company of Merchant Adventurers at Hamburg; and A Sermon Preached at Lambeth (London, 1645), which was the funeral sermon for Daniel Featley (1582-1645). Loe was buried at Westminster Abbey on 21 September 1645.
