The exact birth date of Henry Hibbert is unknown. He matriculated at Brasenose College, Oxford on 21 January 1620, graduating B.A. in 1622. In 1625, he became vicar of Preston in Holderness, Yorkshire; Parliamentarian forces deprived him of this living in the 1640s. In 1647, he was instituted to the vicarage of Mottram, Cheshire. He became minister at Settrington in the East Riding of Yorkshire in 1651. A year later, he became vicar of Holy Trinity, Hull. In the Restoration, he moved to London and was based at All-Hallows-the-Less and St Olave, Old Jewry. In 1664-1665, he was awarded the degrees of B.D. and D.D. from the Universities of Cambridge and Oxford, respectively. Hibbert was buried at St Olave's on 24 September 1678.
