The exact date of birth of Isaac Barrow is unknown. He matriculated pensioner from Peterhouse in Easter 1631. He graduated B.A. in 1632 and proceeded M.A. in 1636. On 18 December 1641, he was ordained priest at Peterborough. He was instituted to the vicarage of Cherry Hinton, Cambridgeshire in the same year. During the Civil Wars, Barrow served as a chaplain at New College, Oxford, and was ejected from a fellowship at Peterhouse in January 1644. His position was restored in 1660, and he was subsequently installed as rector of Downham, Cambridgeshire, in addition to acquiring a fellowship at Eton College and an honorary doctorate of divinity. From 1663 until 1671, he was bishop of Sodor and Man, and from 1670 until his death on 24 June 1680, he was bishop of St Asaph. Bishop Barrow was buried at St Asaph Cathedral.
