Son of Richard Boys, he was born in Colchester. In 1667/8 he was admitted at the age of 18 to St John's College, Camb. under the name Charles Boys. He gained his BA in 1671/2, MA 1675 and was ordained in 1672. He was vicar of Coggeshall Essex from 1679 until his death, Rector of Litle Tey 1689 - 1701, Rector of Whaddon 1675-1680, and rector of Aldham from 1701 until his death in 1725. He was the father of Isaac Boys and William Boys (Venn: BS701W)
