Other note
Elizabeth Egerton (née Cavendish) was born in 1626, the second daughter of William Cavendish (bap. 1593, d. 1676), first duke of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, and his first wife, Elizabeth Bassett (1599-1643). In 1641, Elizabeth married John Egerton (1623-1686), who later became second earl of Bridgewater. Elizabeth Egerton died on 14 June 1663. She is remembered for composing a series of meditations, held today at the British Library and the Henry E. Huntington Library.
