Mattriculated sizar at St John's College in October 1618, and gained his BA in 1621/2. He was appointed schoolmaster in Hellingly in 1623 and then became a curate at Lewes in 1625. He was Curate at Westham from 1625 - 1636, and vicar at Sidlesham from 1639 - 1664 and made vicar at Ticehurst in 1670.
