The exact date of birth of Robert Jenison is not known. The son of Ralph Jenison (d. 1597), mayor of Newcastle, Northumberland, he was baptised at St Nicholas's Church on 6 January 1582/3. He graduated B.A. from Emmanuel College, Cambridge in 1605, and proceeded M.A. (St John's College) in 1608. He was awarded the degree of B.D. in 1616, proceeding D.D. in 1628. He served as lecturer of All Saints, Newcastle-upon-Tyne, from 1622, but was deprived of nonconformity in September 1639. He was instituted to the vicarage of Newcastle, Northumberland on 2 April 1645. Two years later, he also became vicar of St Pancras, Kentish Town. During his lifetime, he published a number of treatises, including Directions for the vvorthy receiuing of the Lords Supper (London, 1624) and Soled comfort for sound Christians (London, 1641). Jenison died on 6 November 1652, and was buried two days later.
