A diary by Marriot, a Dissenter and member of John Shower's congregation in the Old Jewry. The diary goes from 13 Apr 1701 to 11 Feb. 1703/4. It primarily contains sermon notes and religious meditations. Most of the notes of sermons are very brief, only a few lines, but a few are more extensive. There is a sermon in shorthand by "Mr. Freak" at f. 168b. The British Library catalogue suggests that the original owner of the book likely was a lawyer because the volume contains some legal notes.
The name "Tim. Marriot," is inscribed at the end of the manuscript. This is likely the "brother Timothy" mentioned at ff. 102 and 103.
