Contents Note

First in a series of sermon notebooks (BL Ms. Add. 45671-45678) belonging to the Hall and Firth families. The volume contains fair copies of listener's notes along with occasional extracts from printed materials. A note of the flyleaf reads "Mostly in the handwriting of John Hall of Kipping, Thornton near Bradford, Yorks (1630-1709). Additions in the handwriting of his great-grandson John Firth of Kipping (1697-1782)." Includes a table of contents listing the names of preachers and texts; however, this list does not seem to be entirely reliable. Although most of the sermons were preached in Yorkshire, some were preached at Mansfield in Nottinghamshire.
