A manuscript owned by the nonconformist minister Philip Henry and his descendants. The volume includes his notes for sermons, c. 1655-1685 (ff. 179r-225v), and auditor's notes taken by his daughter, Katherine Tylston (f. 227r-234v). Also includes correspondence of Henry and his family (ff. 1-75) and devotional material by various members of the family (ff. 76-177). There is one page of sermon notes by John Ryland (f. 238r), which according to the cataloguer were recorded in 1802-1805; these fall outside GEMMS's period and have not been entered here.
Paper. Miscellaneous papers tipped into modern binding. vi + 238 leaves. Henry's hand is small but neat and legible. His sermon notes are written in a tiny notebook and have minimal annotations and corrections. Tylston's auditor's notes are written in a small notebook with a vellum cover, in which she has written on the front cover: "Katharine: Henry. Her Book Jan. 18 1679/80".
The volume was acquired in 1899 by Edward Rhys Jones who has added some notes on ff. i-vi.
