Contents Note

The manuscript contains one presentation copy of a sermon preached before King Charles II by Thomas Cartwright (ff. 1r-38r). There is a title page (f. 1r) and an epistle which is dedicated to Richard Vaughan, Second Earl of Carbery (ff. 2r-3v). It is not known whether Vaughan owned the manuscript. There is also an anonymous sermon, written in a different hand (unfoliated and unpaginated).

Material Features

Octavo. Gold-tooled contemporary binding. The pages have red ruled lines and gold gilt edges.

Purchased by the Friends of Lambeth Palace Library at Sotheby's, 15 July 1998, lot 16.
