There is an 'index of some generall heads contained in this Booke' on the second flyleaf (recto). Contents in the volume include extracts from the Practice of Piety by Lewis Bayly; 'Brefe directions how to read the Holy Scriptures, once euery yeare ouer, with ease, profit & reuer[ence]'; and 'Meditations concerning the due manner of practising piety, in receiuing the holy Supper of the Lord'. Quarto. Contemporary sheepskin, stamped with fleurs-de-lys in each of the corners on both sides. An inverted 'T' is stamped on the centre of the volume on both sides.
'John Toke His Booke 1662' is written on the verso of the first flyleaf.
Acquired at auction in Phillips' sale (12 March 1999, lot 129), with the combined support of the Friends of the National Libraries and the Friends of Lambeth Palace Library.
