Collection of sermons by various Cambridge divines (theologians), preached between 1594 and 1637 and copied in several hands from c.1634 to c.1637. Accompanied by a tract on usury (pp.55-78) attributed to Samuel Harsnett, bishop of Norwich.

Material Features

Nineteenth-century blind-stamped calf binding à la cathédrale, vi + 161 pages. Inscribed "H., 9 April 1634."

Provenance

Owned by John Alger, solicitor, of Ashton under Lyne, Lancashire, 1829. Also includes a bookplate of a member of the Coulthard family.

Acquisition

Bought from P.J. Dobell in 1953.
