A collection of miscellaneous documents from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. Includes:
(f. 2). Draft of a proposed reversion of the attainder of the Earl of Strafford, June 1641.
(f. 29). Letter on prayers for the Dead by the author of a Discourse recently published, to -- Lloyd, dated Angers, 23 Aug. 1727
(f. 47). 'The lord treasurer Burleis Directions to his sonne Robert when he was a youth ...,' i.e. about 1580.
(f. 65). Catalogue by Carte of the Percival papers, 1627-47.
(f. 75). 'Dr. Souths sermon against Comprehension,' 4 Aug. 1710.
This volume was part of Thomas Carte's (1686-1754) manuscripts that were gradually acquired by the Bodleian during the period from 1753 to 1778. It is likely that this volume was part of the last acquisition in 1778 when Oxford University purchased Mr Jernegan's life interest in Carte's remaining manuscripts, which were then transferred to the Bodleian.
