Four sermons and some other religious material, mainly by James Phillips, written at Woodstock, Oxfordshire. Epistle dedicatory (pp. iii-v) to his mother, Sina___ (some letters in her name are crossed out) on 27 April 1654. Three sermons by Philips (pp. 1-264) and one, a funeral sermon for John Davis, by Mr. Gregory (pp. 269-308). Also includes a copy of a poem (p. 319) on a Greek subject, beginning "Dread Sir, Couldst thou before thy death," and signed "F. N. G.," after which is a prayer printed in the same book.

Provenance

Dedication from Westminster School to Phillips' mother at Kerry in (indecipherable). Former owners mentioned are Peter Agate (17 January 1774) and John Epps, Sr. (shortly thereafter).

Purchased from C. S. Palmer on 25 September 1885.
