Contains a seventeenth-century sermon outline and two eighteenth-century sermons. One of the sermons (f. 18, on Galatians 2:20 and in the hand of Samuel Lawrence) has no entry, having been preached on 2 September 1729 after the GEMMS date range cutoff.

Material Features

Paper, iv + 31 leaves, 6 7/8 x 4 5/8 inches.

Provenance

Purchased in Chester in April 1798 by Will. Robert Hay, M.A. This would seem to be William Robert Hay (1786-1861) but he would have been only twelve years old at the time. Another possibility is William Hay (b. ca. 1704); see ACAD (Venn).

Acquisition

Purchased along with with an interleaved English bible (Oxford 1679) containing manuscript notes by Matthew Henry (d. 1714) (Bib. Eng. 1679. e. 4-6). Purchased by the Bodleian from Henry Stevens on 3 February 1866 for £7 17s. 6d.
