(old series: GEMMS-MANUSCRIPT-240)
Title
Ten Sermons
Shelfmark
MS I.h.28
Creation Date
ca. 1672 - 1694
Contents Note

Sermons are unpaginated. The preacher is a person connected with Norwich Cathedral, but he is unidentified. It is uncertain but probable that the sermons were by the same preacher. The sermons were preached between 1672-1694. The CL cataloguer conjectures that the pencil comments and observations are by the donor Joshua Wilson, one of the founding donors of the Congregational Library.

Material Features

Binding is half-leather, with blind tooling, and on the spine, gold tool and lettering "SERMONS - 1672-94.

Provenance

The verso of the title page has a pencil inscription, likely by Joshua Wilson, "I bought this at an Auction of Lumber at Norwich." The CL cataloguer takes "Lumber" to mean an entire batch of sermons.

Acquisition

Donated by the widow of Joshua Wilson in 1876.
