Title
Miscellaneous Sermon Notes

MS 24.32
Creation Date
ca. 1700 - 1720
Contents Note

None of the material in this volume is dated, although some extracts have been taken from printed sources that can be dated (c. 1643, 1692). It is possible the sermons in the volume, as opposed to these transcriptions of printed materials, are outside the GEMMS date range. On f. 1v is a table of texts of 21 sermons followed by notes on these sermons, ff.2r-102v. These notes begin as brief summaries, but as the volume progresses they become increasingly lengthy. Some appear to be full sermons, but they have been classified here as Sermon Notes because of the mixed character of the volume and the DWL cataloguer's assessment. Brief notes on two sermons follow on ff. 104r-105r; notes on ff. 128r-129r; notes on ff. 136v-150r. On other folios are the extracts from printed books (identified and noted in the DWL Catalogue).

Material Features

This volume is written in same hand as MS 24.31, but is more hastily done, without the neat flourishes, ruled margins, good quality dark ink, and decorative elements that made that volume so beautiful. Even the binding -- similar to that used in 24.31 -- is in poorer conditions, and less well decorated. 4to.ff.150.

Other Note

It is difficult to determine whether these are preachers' or auditors' notes.
