Title
Sermons of John Campbell 1671, 1672
Shelfmark
MS 2762
Creation Date
ca. 1671 - 1672
Contents Note

On the page facing the first sermon is a list of the contents and a note in an eighteenth-century hand: “These 53 Sermons were written by John Campbell of Craiggy in 1671 & 1672.” There are actually 55 sermons; there are 26 on Romans 8:1 rather than 24.

The sermons were delivered on 8 October 1671 to 14 July 1672 (Source: Catalogue). Campbell was apparently Minister of Sorn, 1658-1684, but was at the time deprived for attending conventicles (see FES, v. 3, pp. 23, 67-68).

Material Features

Large leather-bound volume with evidence of original clasps. Rebacked. Not paginated or foliated. The sermons are neatly and clearly written without marginal annotations. Occasional passages have been underlined, apparently at the time of writing.
