Contents Note

Manuscript volume of sermons compiled in 1670. Preceding these sermons is a prayer, copied out twice (unpaginated) and addressed to 'Almighty & everlasting God'. The first prayer is incomplete; the second is complete. In between these two prayers, on the third page of the manuscript, is a record of the loan of two books on 20 March 1691/2. After the prayers follows a short list of 'Texts preached upon', referring to eight of the sermons which follow (the first three are omitted). The last five pages of the manuscript contain a list of theological works; authors include Andrewes, Stillingfleet, and Taylor. There is also a prayer on the penultimate leaf of the volume (recto). There are very few corrections to the sermons, suggesting that these were transcriptions.

Acquisition

Given by W. A. Myers Ltd. in 1962.
