Manuscript written by many hands. Attributed to Dame Mary Lister, wife of Sir William Lister of Thornton, Yorkshire.

Includes (1) household inventories and culinary and medical recipes by Mary Lister some of which are dated 1625-1635 (ff.11, 15-24, 39-40); (2) Recipes by Grace Bellasis (d.1659), Mary Lister's niece (ff.28-33); (3) Sermon on Joshua 7.20-21 dated 1625 (ff.158v-150); (4) catechism on Genesis 5-28, written in a variety of hands (ff.145v-88) (5) List of Mary Lister's books (f.160).

Material Features

160 folios. Ff. 85v to the end is inverted. Written in a variety of hands, mainly clear. Signature on f.1 Ralph Crosbie.
