Contents Note

A series of about fifty sermons by various preachers given around the West Riding of Yorkshire. The volume includes two sets of letters, one to Miss Sykes from Norah Gurney, the Archivist at the Borthwick Institute of Historical Research dated 6 January 1966 enclosing a list of the preachers of the sermons with notes on the ones that have been identified. Gurney suggests that the handwriting is similar to that in a manuscript held at the church in Otley written by Charles Fairfax. She says, however, that she is unsure whether one volume is a copy of the other or whether the handwriting is the same. Other letters suggest that both volumes are written by Charles Fairfax. The other letter is by William Smith and seems unconnected to the volume.
