Contains Book VI of Richard Hooker's "Ecclesiastical Polity" with additions by Ussher's amanuensis (ff.1-32); autograph copy of Richard Hooker's "A learned sermon of the nature of Pride" (ff. 33-43); a fair copy of the end of the same sermon by Richard Hooker (ff. 43-51); a copy of Hooker's reply to "A Christian Letter" (later given the title "Fragments of an Answer to the Letter of Certain English Protestants") in the same hand as first and third words (ff. 52-66); "An Answer to Brereleis booke, intitled S Austins Religion" (ff.67-83); and "An Advertisement touchinge the Controversies of the Churche of Englande" (ff.84-91).

Material Features

Six manuscripts of individual works bound together in vellum in the mid-eighteenth century. The first, third, and fourth works are in the same hand, likely that of Ussher's amanuensis, while the other three manuscripts are in distinct hands. The second, third, fifth, and sixth manuscript are marked with previous call numbers from eighteenth-century classifications.
