One item is a letter, which perhaps accompanied these sermons, reading, "Dear Friend, it pleased God to call for my Sons's little soule on Saturday and since then on Tuesday for my Daughter Radford's about three weekees older. Hee gives and hee takes away. This lesson [] and now learning is to Rejoice with Treling. I hope I am not much worse from my fal, tho at first it was threatening. The lord preserve and bless you. Amen. This from your old Friend. Philip Henry. April 28 - 93".
A folder containing three separate items: the letter described above, and two Matthew Henry sermons, both in his own handwriting.
The catalogue states that most of the documents in this collection are from the collection of the Rev. Thomas Raffles of Liverpool and some may have been added by Mrs E.A. Rylands.
