Autograph copies of three sermons by Thomas Boston, preached on 6 August 1715 at Morebattle, Roxburghshire. Suggested by the catalogue that this might be a transcritpion for the elders at Morebattle. In Boston's journal, he writes that "On the Monday two of the elders there desired a copy of the sermons transcribed, insinuating their design to print them; which I took to consideration."
1 volume of 16 folios, measuring 15.8 x 10 cm. Bound in later tooled red cover, with "United Presbyterian Church Mount Pleasant Liverpool - Jubilee 1859" on the cover.
There are notes on the provenance by Alexander Fletcher (1787-1860) stating that his brother-in-law, John Brown of Whitburn (1754-1834), authenticated the manuscript. The manuscript was given by Alexander Fletcher to Thomas Raffles on 13 March 1843.
From the Thomas Raffles collection.
