This manuscript comprises a sermon preached by Robert Hitchcock. There is a title page and an epistle addressed to the Earl of Bridgewater. The full title reads as follows: 'A Sermon, of Law, Nature, and Conscience, preacht in the chappel at Ashridge, before the right Hon: Earle of Bridgewater, and his family, By Rob: Hitchcock Bach: in Diuinity and Preacher of Gods word, at Wingraue.' The sermon has been dated approximately according to the length of time he was instituted to the vicarage of Wingrave, Buckinghamshire, and according to the dates of the Second Earl of Bridgewater. At the time of compiling his presentation copy of this sermon, Hitchcock was chaplain to the Earl of Bridgewater.
