Manuscript text of a sermon delivered by minister Matthew Lawrence at the wedding of William Armyne, Jr. and Anne Chase at Chilton, Suffolk in 1649. This volume is a copy made for the father of the groom, Sir William Armyne. Includes a dedicatory address to Armyne from the preacher.

Material Features

An octavo volume, written very carefully and beautifully to imitate print by John Raymond of London. A later owner has written notes on the text and manicules in the margins throughout. Bound in full brown morocco with gold tooling.

Provenance

There are the bookplates of John Eglinton Bailey on the front paste-down endpaper and of R.H. Watt on verso of front free endpaper.
