Contents Note

This volume contains no fewer than 80 autograph sermons by William Brattle. After the eighteenth sermon in this manuscript, there are a series of notes on the Bible in a different hand; these have not been documented by the present cataloguer. Other entries include 'Mr Winthops Experiments Concerning Cohesion', dated 1-20 April 1740 and written at Harvard College, in a third hand. Other notes written at Harvard in the 1640s follow. There is also a series of sermons written in the 1770s; these have not been documented by the present cataloguer.

On the opening flyleaves, there is a letter describing the contents of the manuscript volume, dated 29 May 1895 (address: 89 Broad Street, Lynn [Massachusetts]), addressed to 'W[illia]m Lawe' and signed by Charles E. Clark.
